Outer Banks Accommodations
Kiteboarding, Wakeboarding, Windsurfing, Paddleboarding and Surfing
There's a lot of ways to move across the water. From slow to fast, relaxed to exhilarating, you can learn to enjoy all of them right here at the Inn. Finish your breakfast, walk down our dock to the Sound, meet your instructor, and learn to kiteboard, wakeboard, windsurf, or stand up paddleboard. If you'd rather ride the ocean, join one of our world class surfing instructors for a day at the beach learning to ride waves.
You can combine accommodations at our soundfront location with lessons from some the finest instructors on the island. Learn kiteboarding and wakeboarding from Captain Ty Luckett of Kite Hatteras, windsurfing and stand up paddleboarding from Charlie Kim, or surfing from Donnie Jones and Preston Barley. Choose from beginner's, intermediate or advanced, and from private lessons to group "schools" for you and your group.
If you're experienced, bring your equipment, use our on site storage, and launch right from Sunset Point on the inn grounds. Please let us know at time of reservation the courses in which you're interested, and we'll handle the arrangements for you. Lessons and packages are also available to inn guests each day during peak and mid seasons on a first come, first served basis, based on instructor availability. All instructors are independent contractors.
Soundside Fishing Charters
Push back the chair
from your gourmet breakfast, step onto our dock, and depart for a
full day of soundside fishing charter with Capt. Jerry Teel of Got-em
Charters.
Spend the day light tackle or fly fishing, or go clamming or scalloping,
based on season. Combine a day of fishing with an onboard gourmet
meal or picnic on an isolated private beach with our Elegant
Picnic package. Turn your catch into
a gourmet meal with our Fish for Your Supper package.
Or simply have Jerry prepare your catch for freezing at The Inn to take
home with you. Please let us know at time of reservation the trips in
which you're interested, and we'll handle the arrangements for you. Fishing
packages are also available to inn guests each day on a first come, first
served basis, dependent on charter availability. Half day Soundside packages
and half and full day ocean charters from the Hatteras village charter
docks are also available.
Diving and Snorkeling
Certified divers are welcome to join the crew of
Outer Banks Diving aboard the large comfortable
USCG certified vessel "Flying Fish". Visit historical shipwrecks in the warm, clear , Gulf Stream waters of
the Southern Outer Banks that serve as active marine havens for many varieties of sealife. Not certified?
No problem! Snorkeling packages and options are available. Outer Banks Diving offers a full service dive shop
and daily charters with individual, group, multiple day, and off season rate packages.
Helicopter Photography and Video Flights
Bring back an amazing memory of your visit to Hatteras Island. Enjoy a flight with commercial rated pilot Larry Ihle of Coastal Helicopters, LLC. Take aerial photographs and video from the comfort of his 2006 Robinson R-44 Raven II, with air conditioning and leather seats. A view of Hatteras from the air will give you a true appreciation of the fragile beauty of our coastal plains barrier island.
Kayaking, Eco Tours and Parasailing
Interested in kayaking?
Choose from outings ranging from a pleasant afternoon beginner's paddle
to a professionally guided tour of Soundside waters. We can set up
local outings, or accommodate your group tour making its' way down
the Outer Banks. For local kayaking or for a parasailing adventure, contact

Old Fashioned East Carolina Duck Hunting Weekend, with a Twist
In years past, friends would gather at East Carolina coastal "guest houses" for duck hunting weekends with friends. We've revived that tradition with a twist or two. Come with your friends in December and January. Eat a hearty breakfast in the dark, and be sent off with a thermos of coffee or cocoa, a three course lunch, and some of the island's best boats, guides, and equipment. Return with your quarry, and enjoy it that evening as part of an elegant feast prepared in our own kitchens.
